Level 1 Mathematics with Numeracy
11MAT Course Description Recommended Prior LearningWorking at Levels 4-5 of the NZ Curriculum in Mathematics.
This course focuses on numeracy and the application of mathematical concepts. Students will be supported to further develop their numeracy skills and and prepare for the Numeracy common assessment activity. The course links to the strands from the NZ Curriculum and covers various aspects of number, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability.

* All Year 11 students are required to study Mathematics and will be placed in either: Mathematics with Numeracy or Mathematics with Algebra.

Assessment Information
With the new NCEA standards being introduced in 2024 at Level One, the 11MAT course in 2024 will assess two internal NCEA Level One standards and the Numeracy Common Assessment Activity. This will require a broader understanding of the links between topics, which we hope will result in better learning outcomes for our akonga.
