Course Description

Course theme: people and the environment. This is an introduction to Geography. Students will learn how the world's natural and cultural environments interact. Topics may include: field research in the Abel Tasman National Park; wordl population; sustainable resource use in forestry; 1080 use in New Zealand; extreme natural events such as earthquakes; geographic skills; spatial analysis using GIS.
There are three, one day field trips based on the curriculum and linked to the 1080, research and forestry topics.
