Level 1 Mathematics for Numeracy
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr L. Toynbee.
This course focuses on numeracy and the application of mathematical concepts. Students will be supported to further develop their numeracy skills and and prepare for the Numeracy common assessment activity. The course links to the strands from the NZ Curriculum and covers various aspects of number, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability. Progression from this course is to another Level 1 course, there is no direct Level 2 pathway.

* All Year 11 students are required to study Mathematics and will be placed in either: Mathematics for Numeracy, Mathematics with Applications or Mathematics with Algebra.
Recommended Prior Learning
Working at Levels 4-5 of the NZ Curriculum in Mathematics.
Pathway
Assessment Information
With recent NCEA changes this 11MAN has been developed and will assess one internal NCEA Level One standard, the Numeracy Common Assessment Activity and help learners with some everyday mathematical skills. This will require a broader understanding of the links between topics, which we hope will result in better learning outcomes for our akonga.Credit Information
