Course Description Recommended Prior Learning

Year 9 Te Reo Māori or equivalent.

This course builds on the introductory course of Year 9 and extends students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Language topics and skills are integrated with cultural studies. The process of language learning will enhance the students’ understanding and appreciation of other cultures.

Course Overview

Term 1
Te Reo Māori curriculum level 1 and 2 revision. Learning of new karakia, mihi and pepeha.

Term 2
Te Reo Māori curriculum level 3.

Year 10 Option Subjects (Half or full year courses), Languages

Assessment Information

Students have one opportunity during the programme to complete summative assessments for each of the course objectives:

Criterion A: Listening
Criterion B: Reading
Criterion C: Speaking
Criterion D: Writing
