Year 9 Te Reo Māori or equivalent.
This course builds on the introductory course of Year 9 and extends students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Language topics and skills are integrated with cultural studies. The process of language learning will enhance the students’ understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
This full year course counts as two of your four half year options.
Term 1
Revision of Te Reo Māori curriculum levels 1 and 2. Learning of new karakia, mihi and pepeha. Waiata and haka.
Term 2
Curriculum level 3
Term 3
Te Reo Māori Curriculum levels 3 and 4.
Term 4
Preparation for Te Reo Māori Level 1.

Students have two opportunities during the year to complete summative assessments for each of the course objectives:
Criterion A: Listening
Criterion B: Reading
Criterion C: Speaking
Criterion D: Writing
